From 6th to 9th November 2018, there was a competition of waiters, bartenders, baristas and restaurants at the Meteor Hotel in Makarska (Republic of Croatia), called "Grand Gourmet 2018", where the individual international competition of waiters and bartenders took place, as well as international and national competition of catering facilities and team competition of waiters and chefs. The organizer of the competition is the Association of Cooks of Mediterranean and European Regions (SKMER) from Split, and the co-organizer is the Croatian Bar Association. Students of the Faculty of Sciences, Department of Geography, Tourism and Hotel Management from Novi Sad took part in the competition, among which was a representative of the Culinary Federation of Serbia and member of the Culinary Association of Serbia (CAS) Vladimir Jež.
In the team with his colleague, waiter Mirko Miljanovic, they took part in the category "Restaurant Competition" where they have perfectly prepared and served an extended menu of four gangs. They won the first place in the general placement for which they were awarded with the gold medal and the plaque for overall winner of the competition.
